Best Event
Package judging criteria:
Web
presentations, packages or series devoted to in depth coverage of
the attacks in the U.S. on September 11, 2001 and their aftermath.
Key elements for the judges to consider were how well sites integrated
content, design and usability to provide information that was both
comprehensive and easily accessible.
First Place:
Attack
on America - msnbc.com
Second Place: Attack
on America - washingtonpost.com
Third Place: Attack
on America - time.com
Judges' comments: Time
Magazine presents the strongest images by a margin and the Washington
Post displays a comprehensive collection of audio, Flash and video,
with several especially exceptional original video stories. However,
with its unprecedented depth, story telling, imagery, design, usability
and information, MSNBC was the unanimous first-place winner in the
"Best Event Package - Attack on America" category. -- J. Carl Ganter

Honerable Mention: Seeing the Horror Part
One and Two
- digitaljournalist.org
Judges'
comments:
The Digital Journalist presented exceptional photography and they-were-there
commentary from photojournalism's first-responders. The site is
an immense compendium of September 11 first-person recollections.
However, the site is lacking in design, presentation, navigation
and other fundamental web elements. Judges awarded an honorable
mention to "Seeing the Horror." -- J. Carl Ganter
In
several categories, first, second, or third place awards were not
given because the work did not reflect the standards expected from
that position compared to the entire body of contest submissions.
