Judges' comments:
"Jim is, without question, one of the world's best journalists. His compelling, inspiring, and insightful photography has focused a light of examination on many of the world's most challenging conditions. His story-telling is technically, aesthetically, and journalistically in a class of its own. His heroin story reveals yet another example of how similar the human experience is regardless of place. This time he has focused his camera of the plight of substance abuse, and in addition is in another far-off land with images that are sophisticated, elegant, and troubling. After viewing this work, one must ask the question, 'What
must be done?'" -- Kenny Irby
