Winner's Comments
"I'm delighted that the judges found it worthy of first-place. It's the picture of my career. I've worked at the (Anchorage) Daily News for 21 years and this picture has received more notice and more comments, emails, and interest than any other picture of my entire career."

-- Jim Lavrakas

Judges' Comments:
"This is an amazing image. The eyes of both fish are captivating and this macro focus takes the viewer to a place that we rarely see and almost never appreciate. The wonder of nature can be truly appreciated through this transporting image."

-- Kenny Irby
