to be poignant or dramatic, but it's tidy and straightforward and strong.
The two lead photos tell the story of the original devastation and ongoing
recovery, with emphasis on the latter. The lead headline perfectly echoes
the ruin-renewal progression. Brilliant blue skies in both images lend a
sense of hope and cheer. Clustered at the bottom are refers to the poignant
stuff inside; the front page remains dispassionate. Two bits of display
type help organize the reader's attention: The label "Other News"
over the left column, and the large, blue "September 11, 2002"
label across the top. |
