ABOUT KARINA
STORIES

A New York native, Karina spent most of her life in Ecuador, where she became fluent in Spanish and immersed herself in her country's culture. Three years ago, she returned to the United States to attend Hofstra University, where she now majors in Print Journalism. A staff writer for The Communicator, Hofstra's feature magazine, Karina enjoys writing stories about people whose voices have been unheard. Last summer, Karina interned at Newsday, a daily paper in Long Island, NY, where she covered breaking news. At Poynter, she hopes to discover and bring to light the concerns of the Campbell Park community.
