Magazine Design

"I approached this magazine design with no design concept in mind. I was mainly focused on 'the look' of the magazine more than the technicalities. Hence, I found myself falling into major design errors that I was not aware of due to my inexperience in this field. My magazine is called THE POiNT, a publication for the Pinellas Point community, which is the neighborhood I am covering while I am at Poynter. The magazine features local stories that are of concern to members of the community. The cover features a photo illustration, so does the main spread. For this issue, the main story is by Marc Hebert, a summer Reporting and Writing fellow and my partner on 'the beat.' My main aim was to take advantage of white space and give the reader room to breathe. I was also going for an elegant and sophisticated look, something that is clean and easy to read."
