Every summer, Poynter selects 16 recent college graduates for this intensive six-week program. They divide their time between the classroom where they learn Poynter's approach to reporting and writing the news, and the field where they cover a community beat and regularly face the demands of deadline. We emphasize solid, aggressive reporting, clear and graceful writing, and careful training in ethics. We stress basic skills but keep our eye on the future by exposing them to computer-assisted reporting and new media. Poynter and visiting faculty coach and advise the students but all the stories on this site are reported, written and revised by the News Reporting and Writing Fellows. |
